ViDAL's primary goals are,

• To serve as a conduit for knowledge and technologies relevant and suited to local conditions
• To conserve, maintain, promote, protect, preserve, improve development and up gradation of villages with sociological, economical and technological developments.
• To promote development of rural communities in India, by making available a set of tools, resources and expertise in agriculture, health, education, social development, environment, energy and information and communication technologies.
• To facilitate forward and backward linkage from and to villages for two way learning.
• To facilitate linking communities with industry, markets, and other agencies for trade support.
